Blickfang

'Blickfang' is a German design event that has taken place in some of the largest German cities over the last decade. Now Copenhagen has the pleasure of hosting a Danish version of the design event and I've got my expectations very high.
Danish design had it's glory throughout the 50ties and seem to struggle to move on from there. A lot of the larger companies producing home ware and interior play it safe and instead of engaging new designers, they take up old and safe products, eventually change the colors, and relaunch them to the sentimental Danish consumers: for example is the company '&Tradition's newest product this year, a sofa designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1939.
All though Jacobsen was a master and his sofa probably is both elegant, beautiful and well designed; we need to support the designers of the time we live in, in order to keep innovation flow and build masters for the future.
Blickfang provides a forum that has been missing at the design scene in our region and I hope it will turn into an yearly success in Copenhagen.

I'll support the new event and will be showing some of my latest work in Øksnehallen 9.-11. november. I hope to meet a lot of talents from all over Europe and look forward to speak to galleries, retailers and customers interested in design products of our time.
